"The Western Bundjalung traditional owners have been fighting for their land rights for many years now and it's great that they will finally get some of the justice and recognition they deserve.
"The Greens congratulate the representatives and communities who fought tirelessly for this Native Title claim and who will now have legal rights to camp, gather resources and conduct cultural practices on their country. We also pay respect to the elders who sadly passed away while the claim was being determined.
"The Native Title process is by no means a perfect way to achieve Indigenous land rights, but it's an important step in restoring the rights of traditional owners who have an ongoing spiritual, social, cultural and economic relationship with their lands and waters.
"Aboriginal peoples never ceded sovereignty control of their traditional land and waters in NSW, but it's a great outcome that the Western Bundjalung people will now have legal rights and a much greater role in how their country is managed" said Dawn Walker MP.
The Western Bundjalung claim area covers more than 5,000 square kilometres and contains 24 National Parks, Nature Reserves and State Forests and encompasses the Aboriginal communities of Baryulgil, Malabugilmah, Jubullam Village and Jubal.
