Reckless PM opens the door to nuclear power

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has foolishly opened the door to overturning the ban on nuclear power, which could have dangerous repercussions, the Greens say.
“The Prime Minister’s  flippancy around nuclear power has opened the door to the Mining Lobby’s dangerous campaign to overturn Australia’s ban on the dangerous technology.  Australians overwhelmingly oppose nuclear power and so should the Prime Minister,” Greens nuclear spokesperson Sarah Hanson-Young said.

Nationals should name locations for nutty nuclear power plant plan

The Greens NSW Energy spokesperson Jeremy Buckingham today slammed the National Party and NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro for raising the prospect of a nuclear power plant in NSW saying renewable energy is safer, cheaper, and more effective at combatting climate change.
“I challenge John Barilaro and Gladys Berejiklian to name which electorate, which suburb and which town in NSW they think a nuclear power plant should be built in,” Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham said.
“They also need to come clean with where they are planning to have a nuclear waste dump to manage the highly radioactive waste fuel that will be produced.

Federal Labor should block SA nukes

Following the Citizen Jury’s resounding rejection of the proposed nuclear waste dump in South Australia, the Federal Labor Party should reaffirm their opposition to the importation of nuclear waste and block this farcical process once and for all, the Australian Greens have said.

“The people of South Australia don’t want this dump and the Labor Party need to recognise that,” South Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said.
